What “no deposit” means
A security deposit is an amount the rental company holds while you have the car. International brands in Turkey usually block it on a credit card at the desk and release it after the car is returned and checked. With a no-deposit offer, nothing is held: you pay the rental and any extras, and drive away.
No deposit does not mean no responsibility. You still pay for damage that the insurance does not cover, for missing fuel, for motorway tolls and for traffic fines, and the company can ask for these after the rental.
Deposit, advance payment and excess
Three amounts are easy to confuse. Each one appears separately in the offer details.
| Amount | What it is | When it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Advance payment | Part of the rental price, paid online to confirm the booking. | When you book. |
| Security deposit | An amount held against damage, fuel, tolls and fines. It can be zero, low, in cash or blocked on a card. | At pickup, returned after the rental. |
| Insurance excess | The most you pay towards damage covered by the insurance. Full-coverage options reduce it, sometimes to zero. | Only if there is damage. |
Who offers no-deposit cars in Turkey
No-deposit and low-deposit cars mostly come from local rental companies at the holiday airports: Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir, and in Istanbul. Many of them also accept a deposit in cash instead of a card hold. International brands rarely offer zero deposits.
Some no-deposit offers include a fuller insurance package in the price; others require you to add one. Compare the total, not just the daily rate.
How to find them in the search
- Enter your pickup airport or city and your dates in the search at the top of this page.
- Open the filters and choose No deposit. You can also look for low deposit or cash deposit possible options.
- Open an offer and read the payment notes: they show the deposit amount, how it is taken and which payment methods are accepted.
What to check before you book
- The deposit amount and method: none, cash or card.
- The insurance excess and what full coverage costs.
- Exclusions such as tyres, glass, the underside of the car and the interior.
- How tolls (HGS) are billed after the rental and whether a service fee is added.
- The fuel policy, usually same-to-same.
- Mileage limits on long trips.
- Any out-of-hours fee for very early or late flights.
At pickup and return
Walk round the car with the staff and photograph or film every scratch, the wheels, the windscreen and the fuel gauge before you leave. Do the same when you return it. With no deposit held, those photos are your best protection if a question comes up later.
Ask for a receipt for anything paid in cash, and keep your rental agreement until any toll charges have been settled.
