Pickup

Plan your AYT pickup before you land.

Antalya Airport has two international terminals and a separate domestic terminal, and charter flights in summer can land at either international terminal. Check which terminal your flight uses and whether your rental company meets you inside arrivals, at a car park outside, or at an office a short shuttle ride away.

Most local companies on the search work with a named meet-and-greet in arrivals: a staff member waits with your name, walks you to the car and completes the paperwork at the vehicle. International brands usually have desks in the terminals. Both options appear in the results; the offer page says which one applies.

If you are staying in Side, Alanya or Kemer, compare an airport pickup with a car delivered to your resort. Collecting at the airport saves the transfer; resort pickup saves parking fees on days you do not drive.

Give your flight number when you book. Charter flights to Antalya are often delayed in peak season, and the supplier can then adjust the meeting time. Ask about out-of-hours charges for arrivals after midnight.
Destination guide

Where to base yourself after landing at Antalya Airport

Lara and Antalya city (15–25 min)

The shortest transfer after a late flight. Stay in Lara for the beach or in Kaleiçi for the old town, and keep the car for day trips to Termessos, Perge and Aspendos.

Belek and Side (40 min–1 h 5 min)

East along the D400 for golf, long sandy beaches and Aspendos. Both are easy drives on a divided road without tolls, even after dark.

Kemer and Tekirova (1 h 5 min–1 h 20 min)

West through Antalya and the coastal tunnels, where the mountains meet the sea. Phaselis and the Tahtalı cable car are close, and the road is slower than the eastern route.

Alanya and Kaş (1 h 45 min–3 h)

Long drives from Antalya Airport. For Alanya, compare with Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP); for Kaş and Kalkan, Dalaman Airport may be closer.

Easy stops near Antalya Airport

Lower Düden waterfall

About 15 minutes from the terminals, the waterfall drops into the sea from the Lara cliffs. Good for a short first-day walk.

Perge

About 15–20 minutes from the airport, the ruins of Perge have a stadium, gates and colonnaded streets.

Aspendos

On the way to Belek and Side, the Roman theatre at Aspendos is a 45-minute drive from the airport.

Best time to go

When Antalya Airport is busiest

Charter flights fill Antalya Airport from April to October, peaking in July and August, when the arrivals halls are busiest. Published averages for Antalya run from about €29 a day in January to €41 in May, but resort prices rise much more in summer – up to about €58 in Side and €63 in Belek in July – so check the price on your destination page.

Plan your arrival

Antalya or Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport?

Antalya Airport has far more flights and rental cars. Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP) is about 44 km from Alanya, against 128 km from Antalya, so it saves time if its flight times suit you. For Kemer, Belek and Side, Antalya is always the better choice. If you will spend most days at the hotel, a transfer may be simpler; if you plan two or more day trips, a rental car usually pays off.

Deposit, payment card and tolls: know the difference before you book

These three conditions cause most surprises at a rental desk in Antalya Airport. Each offer shows them before you pay.

No Deposit

Many local suppliers rent without a security deposit or accept it in cash. Others block an amount on a card until the car is returned. The offer shows which.

No-deposit guide

No Credit Card

Local suppliers commonly accept a debit card or cash at pickup. International brands usually want a credit card in the main driver’s name.

Motorway tolls (HGS)

Turkish toll roads are fully electronic. Rental cars carry an HGS tag and the company charges the tolls after the rental, so ask how it bills them.

How tolls work
On the road

Driving from Antalya Airport: routes and roads

East to Belek, Side and Alanya

Leave the airport on the D400 and keep heading east. It is a wide divided highway with traffic lights and speed cameras in places, and it has no tolls. Allow extra time through Manavgat in summer.

West to Kemer and the Lycian coast

The D400 runs through Antalya city and then south-west to Kemer through a series of tunnels along the mountainside. Beyond Kemer the road to Olympos, Kaş and Kalkan becomes slower and more winding.

Inland to Pamukkale and Cappadocia

Routes inland climb over the Taurus Mountains: north towards Burdur and Pamukkale, or north-east via Konya to Cappadocia. Both are long drives, so plan them as full-day trips and avoid the mountain passes after dark in winter.

Leaving the airport

The airport sits next to the D400. Follow signs for Antalya to go west or Alanya to go east.

Fuel before returning

There are fuel stations along the D400 near the airport junction. Fill up before your return to avoid refuelling charges.

Night arrivals

The D400 east of the airport is lit and divided. The route west goes through the city, so allow more time.

Good to know in Turkey

  1. Drive on the right and overtake on the left.
  2. Speed limits for cars are usually 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on two-way roads, 110 km/h on divided roads and 130 km/h on motorways. Follow the signs.
  3. The alcohol limit for car drivers is 0.5 g/l. The safest choice is not to drink at all.
  4. Seat belts are compulsory in every seat; phones only hands-free.
  5. Motorway, bridge and some tunnel tolls are electronic. Do not stop at the toll gates.
  6. In an accident, call the rental company first and follow its instructions. Insurance usually needs an official report.

Speed cameras and police checks are common on the D400. Keep to the posted limits, which change often between urban stretches and open road.

More car rental questions
Can I rent a car at Antalya Airport without a deposit?

Yes, selected local offers for Antalya Airport have no security deposit or accept a cash deposit. Use the no-deposit filter in the search and read the offer’s payment notes. A zero deposit does not remove your liability for damage outside the insurance cover.

Are there toll roads between Antalya Airport and Side, Alanya or Kemer?

No. The D400 coastal highway that links Kemer, Antalya, Belek, Side and Alanya is a state road without tolls. You only meet electronic tolls if you drive to the motorways in western or northern Turkey.

Can I collect at Antalya Airport and return the car in Alanya or Side?

Many companies allow it. Choose a different drop-off location in the search; any one-way fee is included in the total shown before you book.

Where do I meet the rental company at Antalya Airport?

It depends on the offer. Local companies usually meet you in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name sign, while international brands have desks. Your voucher shows the meeting point and a phone number to call after landing.

What is the minimum age to rent a car in Antalya?

Most companies require drivers to be at least 21 and to have held a licence for one or two years. Larger or premium cars can have a higher minimum age, and young-driver fees can apply. The exact rule is in each offer.

Is it easy to find an automatic car at Antalya Airport?

Automatics are available but manual cars are still the majority. In July and August automatics, 7-seaters and SUVs sell out first, so book them early.

Should I fly into Gazipaşa for Alanya?

If flights suit you, yes: Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport is about 44 km from Alanya, compared with 128 km from Antalya. It has fewer flights and cars.

Is Antalya or Dalaman better for Kaş?

Dalaman is closer to Kaş (about 154 km), but Antalya (about 201 km) often has more flights. Both are scenic drives.

Where should I stay on my first night?

After a late flight, choose Lara, Antalya or Belek, all within 40 minutes, and continue in daylight.

When should I return the car?

Allow time for traffic on the D400, refuelling and the handover, plus your airline’s check-in time.
